Exploring self-advocacy and activism in the lives of people with the label of learning difficulties
Dan Goodley is currently finishing an ESRC Project on ‘Self-advocacy, Civil Rights and the Social Model of Disability’. This work builds upon previous life story and ethnographic research captured in his book Self-advocacy in the lives of people with learning difficulties: the politics of resilience’ Goodley, 2000, Open University Press
This project examined the stories and actions of self-advocates with the label of ‘learning difficulties’. Their activism contributes to the wider collective actions of disabled people and requires recognition.
